POSTPONED 2020 BSS National Field Trial Dates

2020 Retriever National Championship.

POSTPONED
It is with great regret that the Boykin Spaniel Society must announce that the 2020 National Championship is being postponed. This decision was not made lightly but with mounting pressure from local, state and federal mandates we feel it is best for our members and our community. We do not have an exact date as of yet, but will be working with our vendors, caterers, and local infrastructure to get one arranged soon. For your planning purposes, we will be targeting late October to early November. Thank you for your continuing support of this wonderful event. We hope you and your dogs are well and training to be the next Boykin Spaniel National Champion.

Rule Chages:

In the Upland Nationals, the Judges of the Open stake will have the option of running dogs in “ brace “

In the Retriever Nationals the Open Distances will be aligned with those used in the HRC program. Water 125 yards, Land 150 yards and Blinds 100 yards.

In the Upland Hunt tests and Field Trials the use of Higgins style release boxes will be allowed.  The Release Boxes MUST be thoroughly brushed in so as to be undetectable by the dogs.

Here is a good explanation of Running Upland Flushing dogs in a brace from our friends at the English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association. https://essfta.org/english-springers/versatility/introduction-to-spaniel-field-trials/?fbclid=IwAR1SJe7Rn91ibgsrm9tjhmiN1s6TuI750uf74CSLOCFNhcA1nhv8tPmOPkI
